Bacta held a VIP reception on the first day of EAG and used the opportunity to honour industry members with an awards ceremony.
The honorees were
Green Giant Award – this environmentally friendly award was given to Merkur UK who planted 1,500 trees among other green initiatives.
Bonel Chua of UDC won the Supply Chain hero award and was roundly cheered by his colleagues and other industry members. Bonel has worked his way up through the ranks of the distribution giant to become Operations Director.
Alan Black of Sound Leisure was given the EAG Chairman’s Special Award for his contribution to the industry and was joined by his son Chris, daughter in law Cath and his grandson Edward, who is studying Economics in London. He was also joined by his great friends and colleagues Doug Hession and Tony Garlick.
Linda Littlejohn won the Seaside Champion award, presented by Joseph Cullis, bacta Vice President, James Miller presented Kevin Farnswort of Luxury Leisure and Simon Thomas presented Harry Hulse of Blueprint the Rising Star Award.
In addition, the Chairman of Rays of Sunshine made a presentation on behalf of the charity and showed a moving video and two cheques were presented – one for £10,680 from the Whitehouse Leisure Initiative by Phil Setter of Whitehouse Leisure and the other for £20,000 presented by Mark Horwood of UDC.
