This month the UK Gambling Commission Implements New Age Verification Rules with Enhanced Data Responsibilities – Are you Ready?

The UK Gambling Commission has announced the adoption of strengthened age verification amendments, which will come into force on August 30, 2024. These amendments include new requirements for reporting and data collection, placing additional responsibilities on gambling premises such as betting shops, bingo halls, and adult gaming centres. The new measures will require premises to verify the age of anyone appearing under 25 and to have more robust procedures in place to record these interactions, eliminating previous exemptions for certain licensees.

With these increased responsibilities, now is the perfect time for businesses to consider investing in advanced age verification systems like MyCheckr. MyCheckr simplifies the process of verifying customers' ages, making it easier for staff to comply with the "Think 25" policy. The system literally has a green – good to go screen and a red screen to show that further checks need to be carried out by staff. If a red screen is triggered then it will create a staff alert so that swift action can be taken.

Additionally, MyCheckr collects and stores data securely in compliance with GDPR, ensuring that businesses can meet their new reporting obligations and easily share necessary data with authorities.

“As the gambling industry adapts to these regulatory changes, MyCheckr stands out as a valuable tool to ensure compliance while maintaining the highest standards of data protection,” says E-Service Managing Director Mike Clokie, who is an agent for the system in the UK. “Speak to one of the E-Service team today and see how we can help your business be prepared.”

Businesses looking to stay ahead of the curve should consider integrating MyCheckr to streamline operations and enhance their commitment to responsible gambling.
