Richard Quirke, one of Ireland's most successful arcade and gaming operators, has sadly passed away at the age of 77. Known for his iconic establishment, Dr Quirkey’s Good Time Emporium, which was a flagship venue on Dublin’s O’Connell Street and is now known as the Carlton Casino, Quirke leaves behind a remarkable legacy in the Irish gaming industry.
John Stergides, Managing Director of Electrocoin, fondly remembered his early relationship with Quirke, saying, “I met Richard in the late '70s and did a lot of business with him when he started his business in Ireland. He became one of the most successful operators in Ireland. We supplied him with the first machines Electrocoin specifically created for him.”
Richard Quirke's pioneering efforts shaped the gaming landscape in Ireland, making his contributions a lasting part of the industry.
