Good News display to serve as backdrop to ‘unique’ SR Exchange

Bacta members are being encouraged to provide examples of good news stories which reflect their commitment to the individuals and communities that they serve.
The ‘good news one liners’ highlighting issues such as support for local charities, community initiatives and the care provided for individual customers will be part of the screen displays at the free to attend Bacta Social Responsibility Exchange which is taking place 26th March at the Marriot Hotel in Leeds (10:30am – 3:30pm)

Elizabeth Speed who chairs Bacta’s Social Responsibility Committee and is leading the SR Exchange wants to demonstrate the largely unsung work undertaken by Bacta members in their communities.

She explained: “Whether it’s the inclusion of public access defibrillators in high street gaming venues, providing financial support for a local hospice, raising funds for Rays of Sunshine or the recent example of concerned arcade staff and a regular customer in a north east AGC raising the alarm about  an older regular only to find that he had collapsed at home it’s abundantly clear that Bacta member businesses make telling contributions to communities the length and breadth of the country.

“The same social purpose underpins the industry’s commitment to safer gambling and the SR Exchange provides a unique opportunity for consumer-facing staff to share their lived-experience of implementing best practice on matters including customer interaction, self-exclusion and age verification. We will also hear from the Gambling Commission on their ongoing ‘Raising Standards’ initiative.

“I should stress that the SR Exchange is not a conventional conference, rather it’s about sharing information and insights in small groups and has established itself as a unique ‘go to’ event on the industry calendar.

“I would encourage Bacta members from across the sector to support the initiative by registering members of their consumer-facing staff for what is a free to attend event.”
