The amusement and gaming industry has lost a much-loved and highly respected figure with the passing of Ron Vinson today, who dedicated nearly 50 years to the sector.
Ron’s career began in the early 1970s with Lincolnshire Automatics, where he worked as an arcade technician. From those early days, he went on to work with a number of leading operators, including Ameco and Arlington Leisure, honing his skills in repairing a wide variety of amusement equipment.
His career later took him into the casino sector with Casino Coin, where he travelled extensively to install and maintain casino slot machines. A natural progression into sales followed, with Ron holding positions at Deith Leisure, Direct Machine Distributors, and Eurocoin, before moving into product development at John Huxley.
More than two decades ago, Ron founded AMS Ltd, a business that combined his wealth of knowledge in sales with hands-on repair and servicing expertise. The company became known for its high standards and personal touch – a reflection of Ron’s own values.
Across the UK and Ireland, Ron built a loyal customer base and developed enduring friendships throughout the industry. His warmth, professionalism, and good humour made a lasting impression on everyone he met.
Ron will be deeply missed by his family, wife Jill, friends, and all who had the pleasure of working with him.
