Bacta Baggers Take to the Peaks to Support MND Research

The intrepid Bacta Bikres have returned this time trading leathers for hiking boots – and calling themselves the Bacta Baggers! A determined team of industry colleagues took on a grueling two-day mountain challenge in aid of the Motor Neurone Disease Association (MNDA).

Formerly known as the Bacta Bikers, the group embraced a new twist this year, conquering some of Scotland’s most iconic and demanding peaks. The challenge began with Ben Lawers and Beinn Ghlas on Day 1 – both mighty Munros in the Southern Highlands – followed by the dramatic Ring of Steall in the Mamores range, an epic full-day trek filled with rocky ascents, waterfalls, ridges, and sweeping Highland vistas.

The 2025 Bacta Baggers team included:

    •Andy Tipple (Blueprint)

    •Kevin Temple (Novomatic UK)

    •Rob Bennet (Novomatic UK)

    • Andy Bower (Inspired Technology)

    •Sean Young (Wexel)

    •Paul Abbot (Novomatic UK)

    •James Fergusson (Blueprint)

    •Josh Beard (Novomatic UK)

    • Andy Bullock (Innovative Technology)

The expedition was not just about endurance but driven by a powerful purpose: raising funds and awareness for those affected by Motor Neurone Disease, a life-shortening illness that affects the nerves in the brain and spinal cord.

“We’re walking for those who can’t,” said the group in a joint statement. “Every step we take is in support of the thousands living with MND. Our goal is to raise vital funds to support MNDA’s work in research, care and advocacy – and ultimately bring hope to people affected by this cruel condition.”

So far, the Bacta Baggers have raised thousands of pounds, and donations are still coming in. Anyone who would like to show their support can make a donation via the team’s fundraising page here

The team was met with unpredictable weather, long climbs, and plenty of aching muscles – but also a shared sense of purpose and pride. Their efforts once again highlight the industry’s incredible community spirit and commitment to making a difference.

Andy Bullock commented to The Amusement Network, " It was so challenging, but worth it. Great people to be alongside. Laughs and beers (nearly tears)!"

Congratulations to the Bacta Baggers on an outstanding achievement – and for reminding us all what can be accomplished with determination, friendship, and a good pair of walking boots.
