Boomerang Charity Cricket Day hits fund raising target out of the park

‘Great cricket, great people, great event’ is how Miles Baron, Chief Executive of the Bingo Association chose to describe the Boomerang Digital Charity Cricket Day which succeeded in raising a magnificent total of £4,500 which is being shared between three nominated charities comprising The Stroke Association (Boomerang Digital), Variety – the Children’s Charity (The Bingo Association) and the Bacta Charitable Trust.

The final team standings saw Team Bacta, captained by Jeremy and Jordan Godden win the day with two fantastic wins – beating both the Boomerang and the Bingo X1’s to take home the trophy.

Dave Robson representing the Bingo team was named Batsman of the Day for the second year running scoring 62 runs across both games.

Bingo’s Tony Lister hit the Biggest Six, a sweep over backward square leg against Boomerang with Bacta Vice-President Jeremy Godden named Bowler of the Day for tight spells that secured victory for the trade association.

Announcing plans to grow the event again next year organiser and Boomerang Director of Sales Freddie Shreeve said. “We are requesting anyone who is interested to keep 9th July free for next year. If anyone is interested in getting involved, please feel free to contact myself, Miles Baron or Jeremy Godden directly.

“The purpose of the day is about creating memories with customers who’ve become close friends. Beyond raising money for three outstanding charities – The Stroke Association, the Bacta Charitable Trust, and Variety, the Children’s Charity – it’s a chance to bring people together in a unique atmosphere built on competition and camaraderie.”

Thanking all of the participants and the 50-strong contingent of supporters Freddie added: “All of the sponsors deserve a mention – especially Bacta, the Bingo Association, and Inspired.

“A big thank you should also go to the entire Boomerang Digital team for what was a fantastic collective effort. I would like to extend special thanks to Walton Cricket Club for hosting, and to Laura Shreeve for the amazing food provided across the day – from breakfast and cricket teas to the afternoon pizza run.

“I love cricket, I love this industry and there’s no better place to celebrate those twin emotions than at Walton on Trent Cricket Club.”
