Sega Amusements International has announced that Paul Williams is stepping down as CEO and Executive Chairman after nearly 30 years with the company.
Williams, who joined when the business was a small team of just 12 staff importing Japanese amusement games, is credited with transforming Sega Amusements into a leading global player in the amusement games sector. Over the course of his career, he established in-house manufacturing, R&D and software capabilities, and built up major divisions including Spares, Prize and Third-Party Development.
He also oversaw the company’s 2015 rebrand to Sega Amusements International Ltd., and in 2021 secured its acquisition through a management buyout from SEGA Japan – a move that safeguarded the firm’s independent future. Since then, the company has expanded significantly, broadened its product portfolio, and delivered strong commercial growth.
In a statement, the company said Williams leaves the business in a “strong and stable position” under the direction of the existing board and management team, who have his full confidence. His leadership legacy, they added, would continue to guide the company’s values and ambitions.
