Let’s Talk Contactless: Clacton Pavilion Makes Further E-Service Investment

If there’s one shift the industry can’t ignore, it’s the rise of contactless. Pool tables, amusement machines, redemption equipment and change machines - players increasingly expect to tap and play without digging for coins. And as operators know, when payments get easier, revenue usually follows.

At E-Service, we’re seeing more venues fitting contactless to pool tables at the same time as upgrading their overall offer, and our E-Payhub is the perfect solution for this. Alongside this, new lines of ash cues and higher-quality accessories arriving for pool season aren’t just raising the standard of play, they’re raising expectations. When the kit feels premium, players expect the payment journey to match. That’s where contactless becomes part of the experience.

But while tapping a card or device is effortless for the customer, the choices behind the scenes can be anything but. Processing fees, payment terms and settlement conditions vary dramatically between providers. It’s tempting to chase the lowest headline rate, but cost alone doesn’t capture the full equation. Sometimes paying a little more unlocks faster settlement, better uptime, stronger support, and the peace of mind that comes with talking to real humans when you need them. For high-traffic venues, that difference can be huge.

This is also why our work with banking partners like Elavon and “all-in-one” providers like Nayax matters. They help us offer stable, scalable payment solutions, but at the same time, we remain proudly independent. Our role is to introduce operators to the right partner for their business, not the one that shouts loudest. Every site is different, and the best setup depends on volume, machine mix, staffing, footfall patterns and long-term planning.

A Recent Installation: Clacton Pavilion Expands Its Contactless Offering

One recent project that showcases this approach is our installation at Clacton Pavilion, a historic and much-loved attraction in Clacton-on-Sea. The Pavilion has long been a landmark for holidaymakers and was once described as the “jewel in the resort’s crown”.  Today it operates as a vibrant family fun park and entertainment venue. With ten-pin bowling, indoor amusements, a bar and restaurant, and significant refurbishment work completed in recent years, it continues to play a central role in the town’s leisure landscape.

Clacton Pavilion had already trialled a small number of cashless units supplied by E-Service and, after positive results, chose to expand the system. Our team recently fitted Nayax cashless readers to around 13 amusement machines across the venue. The rollout was completed quickly and smoothly, with minimal disruption to day-to-day operations.

For Calum Wright and his team, the expansion offered a cost-effective, low-hassle way to take their cashless journey further across a busy, multi-attraction environment.

Calum Wright said: “The whole process with E-Service was seamless from start to finish. The installation was completed far quicker than I expected, and the team worked around us with almost no disturbance to the arcade. Going cashless felt like a big step, but E-Service made it simple and affordable — we’re really pleased with the results.”

    Plug-and-Play Contactless That Just Works

As adoption grows across the industry, many operators simply want the easiest possible route. Some prefer a turnkey package; others want to compare options. Either way, getting up and running quickly makes a big difference.

That’s exactly why our plug-and-play contactless solutions with Nayax and Payter devices have taken off. Using our new Gaming Board Interface, operators can fit Nayax readers onto novelty games, video machines, prize equipment and more  and be fully operational within minutes. No complicated wiring, no downtime, no heavy engineering. Just plug in, our support team remotely configures the device, and your machine is live and ready for contactless.

It’s the quickest, cleanest path to cashless we’ve ever offered, and it’s proving extremely popular with sites that want the benefits without the hassle.

In truth, contactless isn’t just about payments anymore. It’s about reducing friction, increasing play, supporting staff and modernising venues at a sensible, manageable pace. Whether you want a full hands-off system, a side-by-side comparison of providers, or just straightforward advice, we’re here to make the whole process easier.

If you’re ready to talk contactless - or want to explore your options, please get in touch with the E-Service team.
