Bacta and Rays of Sunshine came together in Basildon this week to recognise the outstanding fundraising efforts of Phil Setter and the team at Whitehouse Leisure.
At a presentation held at Whitehouse Leisure’s headquarters, Bacta representatives were joined by Rays of Sunshine to formally thank Phil and his team for the significant funds they have raised over many years in support of the Bacta Charitable Trust and its long-standing partnership with the children’s charity.
The event saw Phil presented with an engraved commemorative bowl in recognition of his sustained commitment and generosity. Funds raised through industry initiatives, including the Capybara Scheme, have played a vital role in supporting Rays of Sunshine’s work granting wishes to seriously ill children across the UK.
Bacta President Joseph Cullis attended alongside Executive Director John Bollom and Chair of the Bacta Amusement Council, James Miller, underlining the importance the association places on recognising members who go above and beyond in their support of charitable causes.
The presentation also highlighted the broader impact of the industry’s charitable efforts. Through the Bacta Charitable Trust, members have helped raise hundreds of thousands of pounds for good causes, with Rays of Sunshine remaining a flagship beneficiary.
Speaking after the presentation, Joseph Cullis said:
“Phil’s commitment over many years has made a real difference. The funds raised by Phil and his team have helped support countless children and families at the most challenging times in their lives. On behalf of Bacta and the wider industry, we are incredibly grateful.”
The event served as a reminder of the strong community values that run through the sector, with many members continuing to support both national and local charities alongside their day-to-day business operations.
