Bacta President Joseph Cullis has responded to the announcement that Andrew Rhodes will step down as Chief Executive of the Gambling Commission later this spring.
In a statement issued following the announcement, Cullis acknowledged his recent engagement with Rhodes and thanked him for his approach to working with the land-based sector during his tenure.
Cullis said he had met Rhodes on several occasions over the past year in his role as President, including meetings in Blackpool last summer and when Rhodes addressed delegates at the Bacta Convention in November.
“I was grateful for the time he took on those occasions to engage directly with our members and to explain the Commission’s thinking on key issues,” Cullis said.
He added that he had “always respected Andrew’s professional approach and his willingness to have open, straightforward conversations with the land-based sector,” noting the importance of constructive dialogue between the regulator and industry.
Cullis concluded by wishing Rhodes well for the future and confirmed that Bacta looks forward to continuing its engagement with Sarah Gardner, who will take on the role of Acting Chief Executive.
The Gambling Commission confirmed earlier this week that Andrew Rhodes will step down from the position later this spring, with transition arrangements now underway.
