Tony Boulton, who has been a member of Bacta for over four decades believes the active involvement of members who are at the early stages of their industry careers will prove invaluable as the trade association prepares for the challenges of the digital age.
Speaking in the week following the issue of Nomination Papers for June’s elections to the Bacta Amusement Council and the National Council positions of President, Vice President and three past Presidents, Tony Boulton said: “There’s no doubt that Bacta needs a higher proportion of younger members to stand for election in order to represent its interests and those of the industry.
“People who are at earlier stages of their business career possess the energy and skills which will enable Bacta to continue to do an outstanding job for its members in future decades. Their contributions will ensure that Bacta is a modern and progressive organisation utilising the latest technologies to support and assist its members. They also have the skill-set and vision necessary to identify how Bacta needs to continually adapt to satisfy the needs of an increasingly discerning customer base.”
He continued: “As well as ensuring it is representative of a younger demographic it’s also crucial that Bacta is in tune with the needs of the supply chain comprising operators, distributors and manufacturers. The most effective way of ensuring that breadth of representation is for members involved in those businesses to stand for election.”
Reflecting on the talent pool that exists within the membership he concluded: “There’s absolutely no doubt that Bacta has some smart and gifted members who over the years have made the trade association what it is today. I believe that having a pool of smart people is Bacta’s single biggest strength.
“There is no aspect of the business whether it’s expertise in property, technology, compliance, SR, product development or marketing that isn’t covered by the Bacta membership. It is a resource that would be the envy of many large organisations and bringing that talent pool into the Bacta tent would certainly enhance the prospects of the industry.”
Bacta nominations close May 20th, voting papers are being issued May 29th,with the balloting period closing June 12th. The results of the election will be declared at Bacta’s AGM taking place 19 June at Bounce, the destination venue which is located a 2-minute walk from the Bacta Offices at Ely Place. In an initiative to maximise participation the AGM will be live streamed making it accessible to those Bacta members who are unable to attend in person.
