In a deal that will be of particular interest to those in the UK amusements sector, GENDA Inc. of Japan has announced the acquisition of Indigo NewCo Limited, the operating company behind Inspired Entertainment’s UK amusement arcade business.
The transaction, worth £18.6 million, includes over 100 adult and family amusement centres and around 125 mini-sites—many of which are located in high-traffic venues such as holiday parks, motorway services, and leisure complexes.
For those familiar with Inspired Gaming Group, this marks a significant moment. The company, long known for its dual focus on server-based gaming and a robust footprint in AGCs and FECs, has now formally exited the amusement arcade operating space. The divested portfolio was largely inherited from Inspired’s acquisition of Playnation and other assets over the years, and its sale reflects a continued narrowing of focus towards gaming technology and virtual sports content.
GENDA Inc.—best known in Japan for its GiGO-branded arcades—has made no secret of its ambitions to expand internationally. The company already operates three mini-locations in London, but this acquisition gives it an instant, scalable presence across the UK, and a direct route to bringing Japanese-style entertainment formats to British high streets and leisure parks.
According to GENDA, the newly acquired sites will act as a launchpad for large-scale arcades that blend high-performing redemption, prize content, and “Kawaii”-inspired Japanese games tailored for UK audiences.
With this deal, GENDA now operates around 1,000 arcades and 14,000 mini-locations globally, with operations in Japan, North America, China, the UK and beyond.
The deal represents a clean break for Inspired Entertainment, which will now concentrate exclusively on its gaming and virtual sports divisions. According to public filings, the sale allows Inspired to streamline its business and focus on higher-margin growth areas. For GENDA, it provides immediate operational scale in a mature market with clear potential for content innovation and cultural crossover.
